Pesticide is known to be hazardous to health, particularly if you become exposed to it over a long period. Even if we do not use it very often, it is important to protect ourselves by knowing how to handle it correctly. Here are a few ways to do so:

If possible, mix pesticides out of doors in the fresh air. If you cannot do that, make sure you are in a very well-ventilated area, as this is vital for avoiding overexposure.

Wear proper protective clothing. You will need a breathing mask, safety glasses, and a good pair of gloves. It’s good to keep in mind that if you wear leather gloves and get pesticide on them, you will be exposed to them each time you wear them after that, so you may want to use something disposable instead. You should also keep this in mind when wearing other clothing items like a watch with a leather strap.

Make sure all pesticides are stored in a place well out of the reach of children. It should also be very clearly labeled.

Consider a natural alternative to chemical pesticides. Did you know that some building materials are natural pest deterrents? Certain plants are also good for repelling unwanted pests. So you may want to incorporate some natural pest control methods into your home and help reduce the need for chemicals.
