Very often, without even realizing it, we can fill our homes with so much stuff that it starts to look cluttered and disorganized. When we accumulate so many possessions, the thought of sorting through them and getting rid of them can seem very overwhelming – this is especially the case if you are about to move to a new house. So, how can you declutter your home in a stress-free way?

We usually become overwhelmed with a task when we view it as one huge job. Instead, we are much more likely to carry out the task of decluttering when we take a small amount at a time. Try to take some time during the week to go through a small pile of possessions. Place them into piles. For example, have one pile of items you wish to keep, one pile to donate, and another pile for a yard sale – this method will enable you to recycle things you no longer want, rather than throwing them in the garbage.

Perhaps we have held onto some things because we do not know how to get rid of them. The garage harbors many objects like these. Old paint cans, used chemicals, batteries, and outdated electronic equipment are just some of the items that should be disposed of in an environmentally friendly way. Try to find out where these items should be taken to dispose of them correctly.

An uncluttered home can greatly add to a less stressful lifestyle and will be invaluable should you decide to move.
